Thornborough is a village in Buckinghamshire and is located about two miles east of Buckingham. The village name, meaning "hill where thorn trees grow", is Anglo Saxon in origin and the village was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Torneberge.

The village also has the earthworks of a Roman village on its western border, a manor house with associated tithe barns and in the centre of the village, next to the pond is the village church, one of very few in Britain to have steel bells.

OS map On the OS map look for Coates Farm, the old name of Meadow Valley Farm. The arrow points to the entrance.

From the air (Google maps) The Post code is not too accurate! The actual ABCD site is the next building to the east of the red balloon shaped marker and on the north side of the road.

We want to keep the residents of Thornborough happy! Wherever you come from you are likely to come along the A421. If you are coming from the west please respect the villagers in Thornborough and go past the turning at The Folly and turn left just before Fair Winter Farm, signposted 'Thornton,' then left again at Dancers grave (no connection to any workshops we may be running!). In this way we can avoid any excessive traffic through the village. If you are totaly confused by these directions please click the OS map link above, all will become clear!

For those of you with a sat nav latitude 51°59'41.67"N and longitude 0°54'13.67"W will take you to the gate!

Here is some useful information provided by a local resident!

Thornborough is a pleasant village with a friendly local pub- the Two Brewers. But it doesn't do food.  There is no shop and no significant bus service and no phone box.

Buckingham is 2-3 miles West on the A421 and has all the usual outlets in the centre- pubs, cafes, take aways, banks, post office, chemists, a 24 hour petrol station, and a 24 hour Tescos on the ring road.   There are regular buses to and from Milton Keynes and Oxford e.g the X5 express. Taxis cost about £5 to Thornborough.

The newish city of Milton Keynes is ~ 14 miles East and the City Centre has everything you'd expect, including  a hospital with A&E, a main line station (38 mins to Euston), plus many roundabouts! Taxis to Thornborough cost about £20!

Oxford is about 18 miles south via Buckingham. It's on the maIn line train route

There are two easy ways to get to Thornborough by car- from the east, via the M1 to MK (junctions 13 or 14) then the A412; or from the west via the M40 junction 10 and then to Buckingham.

The more intrepid might try cross county via Aylesbury and Winslow from the South. To the north, the A422 links north MK to Buckingham and there is a small road off it via Thornton to Thornborough.
